Adele celebrates one year at Smithfield

Adele Simmons joined us as Community Manager at Smithfield Works and during the last 12 months has been an integral part in growing our purpose-built co-working element, which is part of the £250m mixed-used scheme by Genr8 Developments in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.

Welcoming tenants such as Ticketmaster and Barclays has been some of Adele’s highlights, along with supporting our mix of hot-desk members and also creative organisations such as Stoke Creates and start up businesses such as Purple Digital – a tech business which have gone on to grow their business in their first 12 months and are now also entered into the University of Staffordshire Business Awards 2025 in the ‘Start-up Business of the Year’ category.

Adele has also taken on more responsibility and now forms an integral part in the marketing of the whole of the Smithfield Estate – which comprises of Smithfield Works, Clayworks, One & Two Smithfield.

Great partnerships with local organisations in the surrounding area have also been formed, and new member initiatives for the whole of the Smithfield Estate have been introduced, which include discounted rates at nearby gym – True Grit – as well as special deals with neighbouring bars and restaurants.

“The first 12 months at Smithfield Works has been a whirlwind,” says Adele, who has a previous background spanning 10 years in sales and marketing.

“It’s been great to get to know existing tenants as well as welcome new ones and I am very much looking forward to the next 12 months and beyond.

“Smithfield Works alone was designed to support the growth of innovative young businesses across diverse sectors and with our hot-desk options and private desk suites, we are certainly doing that. It’s also been great to work with such a mix of tenants from the likes of Ticketmaster and Barclays to our creative friends right here in the heart of a City which is bursting in culture.”

Adele adds: “As well as our working facilities, we have partnered with several nearby businesses already who are offering special member rates at their establishments and many of our members have taken these up and are keen to connect with the wider Hanley businesses.

“It’s great to have those relationships and that is what we are all about – helping each other to grow.”
